Baby I Swear It's Deja ...

Vu.

Yeah, so I have taken a second hiatus from blogging. Sorry bout that. Haven't really felt like writing much, although I've had stuff to write about.

In a sense it's like Deja Vu, because it's a second hiatus. But it's got me thinking: I wonder if Beyonce really knows the definition of Deja Vu.

deja vu
n : the experience of thinking that a new situation had occurred before

now here's the hook ...

[Hook]Know that I can't get over you
'Cause everything I see is you
And I don't want no substitute
Baby I swear it's Deja Vu

Sorry, but this just doesn't make any sense to me. Does it to you? Am I crazy? Or is the person who's writing Beyonce's lyrics lost?

Now I must admit, the video, the track and a Jay's flow (bounce or blow, there is no difference) are all hot. But the vocal lyrics to this song are wiggidy wiggidy wiggidy whack (think Kris Kross) ...

Yup, In Her White Tee ...

Yup. You guessed right, she was born in Saint Louis and moved to Louisville in high school. I don't quite know where the desire for a black woman to have red hair comes from, but whatever. If you red my last entry, you get my point. P.S. I do not know this woman, and do not wish to know her. I found this pic in the pictures section of a friend's facebook profile.

The Ignornace (not Spirit) of St. Louis

Fast Fact: So I was in a hot STL club last Saturday night after the big Cory Spinks fight in town. ("$20 bucks," was the price, said like the Boondocks doorman.) But I noticed something interesting. Roughly about 60 percent of black St. Louis women have at least one tattoo on their titties. That's the ratio for black people with gold in their mouth in Louisville. Just thought I'd let you know so you won't be scared if you go out there.

Cashiers carded me three times while in St. Louis the last week.

For alcohol once. Two other times just to check my name up against my credit card I choose to pay with. It confused me a little. In Kansas City, you almost never show identification to verify who you are aside for getting in the club.

But this happened to be extra strange. Everytime they, the cashiers who looked as though they were hoping their 20-year-old son would be the next Cornell Haynes, held onto my driver's liscense for a little too long.

"It's me," I said jokingly, as I do everytime someone is carding me for an unforgiving minute.

There response were measured, similar and downright gross, son. (Sorry, I have to add the son, son - or daughter)

"Oh, I'm just looking at good of a picture this is and how nice you look," one would say.

Ugh. Are you serious? WTF! I didn't come here for this. I came here for some Popeye's Chicken. You do not need to be flirting with me whatsoever. That's what went through my mind. What actually came out:

"Thank you," and then I politely left. Come to find out, my looks actually paid off a little mad extra B. I got an extra wing out of the deal.

Nothing good to report on the other to fronts though.

I'm Back, Once Again

So I have mad things I want to write about. I just don't feel like writing or thinking that much right now.

But I've got positive news. Everybody knows I'm a big fan of good R&B/Soul music, and one of my favorite artists right now is John Legend. I'm a fan of his music, not so much his antics on stage, which have quickly become played out.

Well, dude just dropped his first single for the album Once Again. The first track is titled "Save Room," and it actually sounds Beatle-esque. I say that because it doesn't quite sound like something you'd expect from an R&B artist. But when you list your musical influences as Stevie Wonder, this track kind of makes sense.

You'll understand within a minute of hearing it. I just wonder if this is a way of pulling in "that other crowd" even more. I mean, your rep is built on sultry soul, and although "Save Room" is implying to keep a cozy spot for him in here bed, it's sounds more like the theme song to Family Ties. "Shananananah....."

Anyway, I can almost guarantee that there will be plenty of soul involved on the album. Have you heard "Again" yet? Yeah, find this track. It's the truth, and it proves that JL still has the soul vibe working on Once Again. That's about all I can say, aside from hoping the album sounds more like "Again" than "Save Room." Weird though, when I first heard Get Lifted, the album, I wasn't impressed. But within two days I was sold/hooked/co-signing/repping JL like I was his PR man.

Once Again is supposed to drop in the fall, which means in December in CP time. But hopefully we won't have to wait the entire time to hear it all. Wink, Wink. Don't trip, I'll still buy it. Probably four or five copies.

... ... .... ....

ST LOUIS -

"You haven't done a blog entry in like a week," JLBD says while sitting across from me in Panera, er Saint Louis Bread Co.

"And?" I say. "What's your point?"

Sorry. That's all you get for this moment. Maybe I'll write something later. I've been on a short trip to the Lou, and I'm trying to get my life right/reorganized (well when I get back). So I'm enjoying myself (Not as much as I should be, I've been sick for like two days).
